not having a pop off valve?
ok here is my situation, my toilette started to leak water all over my floor and flooded my house. then started to shoot out of my toilette like old faithfull really i have pictures of it spraying all the way to the roof which is 10 feet tall.. the reason is that T.U.D. ( tuolumne utilities district) was flushing the water system. so we showed them what was happening. they admitted that it started from what they were doing at the time. but basically told me that im shit out of luck because we did not have a pop off valve. and that they would not pay for the damages. there is a substantial amount of damage. does anyone know of a way to not let them get away with that it would really help out a lot.
They pretty much have a point, proved by your pictures, I'm afraid. If you had time to get your camera and take pictures, you had time to mitigate the damage by turning off your main water shutoff valve. Every building has one. Standing around and documenting continuing damage while your plumbing shoots water all over, instead of cutting off the water, isn't sensible, and results in greater damage.
So, if you let them know you have pictures of water shooting out of your toilet, you've pretty much made their case for them. If you had just said you had pictures of water damage, taken after you'd shutoff the water, that might be another story...
